On December 1, 2024, a shocking armed r0bbery unfolded at Cavalla Farm in Nyazura, Zimbabwe, when a group of six masked men broke into a homestead, wreaking havoc on the unsuspecting occupants.
The assailants, wielding three air guns, threatened the residents and brutally ass_ulted them, instilling terror as they ransacked the premises for valuables.
In a frenzied search, the robbers made off with an assortment of stolen items, including eight cellphones, clothing, groceries, two rifles, three sets of motor vehicle keys, and a significant sum of cash amounting to US$1,150.
Their audacity peaked as they commandeered a Toyota Hilux D4D double cab truck, using it as their getaway vehicle.
After the r0bbery, the victim promptly reported the crime, triggering a swift response from law enforcement.
Police detectives immediately initiated an investigation, leading to a tense sh0otout at Murambinda growth point, where they managed to apprehend two of the r0bbers.
Unfortunately, four accomplices escaped, prompting a manhunt in the surrounding areas.
The police successfully recovered a trove of stolen goods, including the Toyota Hilux D4D, and successfully retrieved eight cellphones, clothing, groceries, and two motor vehicle keys, representing a total recovery value of USD21,900.
The total estimate of stolen property amounted to an alarming USD24,700, underscoring the severity of the crime.
In the aftermath, Godfree Mulizwe, aged 20, and Hebert Ngwenya, 45, found themselves facing serious charges in the Rusape Magistrates’ Court.
During the hearing, the prosecution presented a damning case against the duo, painting a vivid picture of the night’s chaos and trauma inflicted upon the victims.
As the legal proceedings unfolded, both accused were remanded to custody pending further hearings, with their next appearance scheduled for December 16, 2024.
