Socialite Jackie Ngarande has come forward to publicly support Prophet Walter Magaya, the founder of PHD Ministries, in light of recent allegations surrounding his academic credentials.
Reports from the University of South Africa (UNISA) claim that Magaya is not a legitimate graduate, suggesting he may have been misled by a fraudulent scheme involving fake honorary degrees.
In a heartfelt open letter shared on Facebook, Ngarande expressed her unwavering support for Magaya, emphasizing the substantial contributions he has made to Zimbabwe and its people.
She praised Magaya’s dedication to philanthropy, highlighting his work in uplifting the lives of thousands, including widows, single mothers, orphans, and other marginalized communities.

Ngarande remarked on his significant commitment to ensuring that children from less privileged backgrounds have access to education, stating that he has personally financed school fees and created numerous job opportunities within his church and beyond.
Ngarande also acknowledged Magaya’s pivotal role in enhancing the entertainment industry in Zimbabwe. Through Yadah events, he has established a platform for musicians, socialites, and artists to showcase their talents, providing them with fair compensation for their work. Furthermore, his investment in sports infrastructure, including the development of stadiums, has greatly contributed to the growth of athletics in the country.
Her letter continued to highlight Magaya’s compassion, noting how he has funded medical treatments for those in need, even facilitating overseas care for individuals requiring specialized help. Ngarande emphasized that falling victim to deceit does not define a person or diminish their good deeds. Rather, it serves as a reminder that even well-intentioned individuals can be ensnared by schemes designed to deceive.
Ngarande reaffirmed Magaya’s status as a beacon of hope and a leader who tirelessly strives to better the lives of many. She argued that this situation presents an opportunity for the University of Zimbabwe and other prestigious institutions to recognize Magaya’s impactful contributions by awarding him a legitimate honorary doctorate. According to Ngarande, his legacy is rooted not in titles but in the genuine acts of kindness and nation-building efforts that should be celebrated and acknowledged.
Her open letter stands as a testament to Magaya’s positive influence and a call for recognition of his significant humanitarian work in Zimbabwe.
