A chilling mystery has unfolded in Seke, Zimbabwe, where residents of a homestead in Dema, Chief Seke’s territory, claim their house was built on top of an ancient graveyard. The caretaker, Mrs. Sofia Gukuta Jakarasi, 54, has been experiencing terrifying occurrences, including hearing disembodied voices demanding that the neglected graves be tended to.
“I have seen hardship because of the spirits that speak in the house I live in, saying the deceased want to be taken care of since the house I live in was built on top of a graveyard,” Mrs. Jakarasi explained. “Many things are happening, including football being played on the roof.”
Mrs. Jakarasi claims the voices wake her up at night, guiding her to the locations of seven forgotten graves. “They say she is awakened at night by voices telling her about places with seven graves, but when she wakes up, the people speaking to her are gone,” said Mr. Karikoga Dhiriza, Chief Seke’s headman.
Locals report strange noises, including the sounds of football being played on the roof, flutes, and pipes. “People are heard playing football on the roof, as well as the sound of flutes and pipes, but they are not seen,” Mr. Dhiriza stated.
A nearby stand is said to contain unmarked graves, where young men digging a mine reportedly encountered walking skeletons of the deceased. “According to local lore, young men digging a mine near the stand reportedly encountered walking skeletons of the deceased, who spoke to them, prompting the terrified miners to abandon their work and flee the area.”
The owners of the property could not be reached for comment, and Mrs. Jakarasi has sought solace at a local prayer meeting. The community remains bewildered by the events unfolding in Dema, Seke.
