Zimbabwe’s talented swimmer, Paige Van Der Weisthuizen may have missed the cut for the next round at the Olympics, but she’s already looking to the future with determination and poise. Paige Van Der Weisthuizen finished the women’s 100 freestyle heats in the overall 25th place out of 28 competitors
Weisthuizen, who qualified for the tournament on a universal spot, finished the heats with a score of 58.19, missing her personal best of 57.34.
Despite a nerve-wracking debut at the Games, Paige held her own in the Women’s 100m freestyle heats, finishing 25th out of 28 with a respectable time of 58.19.
Though she didn’t quite match her personal best, Paige was candid about her experience.
“I was nervous, knowing the whole country was counting on me, but I’m using this as a learning curve for LA 2028,” she said.

With her sights set on the World Championships in December and a long-term goal of qualifying for the next Olympics, Paige is already focusing on her next big race.
As one of only two swimmers representing Zimbabwe at the Olympics, Paige’s dedication to her craft is inspiring.
Her fellow countryman, Dennis Cyprianos, will be competing in the men’s 200m backstroke on Wednesday.
