A 15-year-old boy was sentenced to ten years in prison for the murd3r of 14-year-old Naeema Marshall.
The court found him guilty of fatally shooting Naeema in the head after she declined his request for a k!ss.
Naeema, a Grade 9 student at Beacon Valley High School, was visiting her aunt when the confrontation occurred.
Her mother, Fadeema Marshall, recounted that Naeema had been running an errand when she crossed paths with the boy, who had been persistently pursuing her.
When he asked for a kiss and Naeema said no, the situation quickly escalated.
Witnesses reported a heated exchange between the two, during which the boy made a threatening remark: “Jy sal sien jy” (“You will see”).
Despite his warning, Naeema remained unafraid and continued on her way.
Tr@gically, as she was returning home, the boy followed her and shot her in the left side of her head.

Following the incident, Sergeant Wesley Twigg, a police spokesperson, confirmed that the case was taken on by the provincial organized crime and anti-gang unit.
The investigative team collected extensive evidence and witness testimonies to build a strong case against the young assailant.
The trial concluded on November 28, 2024, with the court finding the teenager guilty of murd3r.
He had remained in custody throughout the proceedings, during which the evidence unmistakably demonstrated his guilt.
In the wake of the verdict, the Western Cape police management expressed gratitude for the diligent work of the investigation and prosecution teams.
