In a brazen robbery that’s left the tobacco industry shaken, eight daring robbers besieged Voedsel Tobacco International Auction Floors in Rusape, making off with several bales worth thousands of dollars, who doesn’t love a good tobacco heist?
The robbers, armed with machetes, overpowered two security guards, Weston Jumbe and Daniel Sadondo, and loaded an unspecified number of bales into an unidentified vehicle. The guards were tied with shoelaces and covered with plastic sheeting, because who needs duct tape when you’ve got shoelaces?
Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the incident and appealed for information leading to the arrest of the suspects. With several similar incidents occurring in the area, the police are urging the public to be vigilant.
