TOP Harare doctor, Tanaka Chimuka, is in the eye of a storm after he was sucked into a drug dealing syndicate supplying dangerous drugs in the gated Arlington Estate of Harare.
Chimuka, who is a medical doctor at Chimuka Surgery in Milton Park, appeared in court together with Tapiwa Mutebuka, who is a nurse at Milton Park Medical Centre, and Sam Chasaya, who is a pharmacy technician.
The court heard that last Monday, detectives from CID drugs received information that the trio was allegedly dealing unlawfully in pethidine and supplying it to users in and around Harare.
The police gathered that they were using bikes to deliver the drugs.
Acting on the tip-off, the detectives ambushed Osla Mpamhanga as he was on his way to deliver the drugs and introduced themselves.
They searched him and recovered 40 ampoules of 100mg pethidine solution and 40 injection needles.
Mpamhanga implicated Chimuka as the one who had hired him to deliver the drugs.
In turn, Chimuka implicated Mutebuka saying he was the one who had given him the drugs.
Mutebuka implicated Chasaya as the supplier.
The trio appeared before magistrate Ruth Moyo and were released on US$100 bail each.
