US Embassy Introduces New Visa Interview Rules Starting March 18, 2025

The United States Embassy in Zimbabwe has announced major changes to the US visa application process. From March 18, 2025, all applicants must present a DS-160 form with a confirmation barcode that matches the one used when scheduling their appointment.

The embassy made the announcement on social media, warning applicants to ensure their details are correct before their interview.

“Starting Mar 18, 2025, U.S. visa applicants must use a DS-160 form with a matching barcode for their interview. No match, no entry! Avoid delays by double-checking your info before your appointment,” the U.S. Embassy in Zimbabwe posted on X (formerly Twitter).

The embassy has emphasised that any applicant whose DS-160 form barcode does not match their scheduled appointment will not be allowed entry for their interview.

“If the confirmation/barcode number on your DS-160 form does not match the one you used to book your appointment, you will not be allowed to enter the Embassy for your interview,” the embassy stated.

This means that applicants must ensure their details are correct before attending their appointment to avoid unnecessary delays or rescheduling.

Rescheduling and Contact Information
Those who make an error with their DS-160 form barcode will have to reschedule their visa interview. The embassy has provided a link to the U.S. Department of State Visa Appointment Service, where applicants can book a new appointment.

“If your barcode numbers do not match, you will need to book a new appointment to proceed with your visa application,” the embassy confirmed.

The embassy urged applicants to double-check their information before their interview to prevent any issues.

For assistance, applicants can contact the visa support team by email at Zimbabwe.Visas@gdit-gss.com or by calling the local helpline at +263 24 279 9969 between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Those calling from the U.S. can reach the embassy on +1 703 249 4612.
