Portugal and Chelsea defender Renato Veiga have open talks with the German club, Borussia Dortmund as the player have requested to leave the club permanent. The Portugal international, 21, has a substantial role in Enzo Maresca’s squad, starting the majority of matches in cup competitions – including Saturday’s 5-0 win over Morecambe in the FA Cup third round.
According to Romano, the Blues would prefer a permanent sale should the Portugal international at the end of the season could satisfy their demands. Chelsea is cuurently demanding around €30m for Veiga .
“Renato Veiga, expected to leave Chelsea as club opened the doors to permanent exit — not loan.
Chelsea want around €30m for Veiga to leave accomodating his request to go and play as CB, not as LB,” Romano confirmed.
Chelsea have not encouraged the approach from the German club and Maresca spoke on Friday about how he “trusted” Veiga.
“He’s played well in different positions for us…”.
“I said to him, in terms of playing in the position he is playing that gives him the chance to join the national team and to get speculation around him,” Maresca said.
Veiga only joined Chelsea in a £12m deal from FC Basel in the summer.
