An anonymous whistle-blower at the Harare Magistrate’s Court has written to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission and the National Prosecuting Authority raising red flags over disappearance of evidence from dockets.
The whistle-blower said a docket came from CID commercial crimes division Northern Region D.R. 71/03/22.
The docket took over a year to reach the court for set down and a subpoena was subsequently issued with a court date of 2 July 2023. The docket could not be found on the date and a new subpoena was issued with a date of 2 August 2023.
The docket allegedly reappeared with missing evidence which prejudiced the complainant’s case.
The whistle-blower stated that the case proceeded without evidence that had been initially submitted by the witness.
The whistle-blower added that there is reasonable suspicion that there was foul play to prejudice the complainant to the advantage of the accused person.
Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission officers refused to comment on the matter while the NPA phones went unanswered
