ZESA Holdings (Pvt) Ltd has reached out to its stakeholders to highlight major challenges currently plaguing the national power grid.
This announcement comes in response to recent discussions on social media regarding widespread electricity shortages, with many citizens reporting that they only receive power after 9 PM.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, ZESA reiterates that Zimbabwe has faced ongoing electricity production issues due to several factors, including low water levels at Kariba Dam and outdated power generation infrastructure.
The company confirmed that a technical fault at Hwange Power Station has further hampered electricity generation, compounded by the already diminished capacity at Kariba.
In response to these challenges, ZESA’s technical teams are actively working to rectify the issues at Hwange to alleviate the strain on power supply for its customers.
The company has issued an apology for the disruptions and the inconvenience caused to its users. Reports indicate that the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) has increasingly resorted to load shedding as electricity generation continues to decline.

Many citizens are curious about the timing of the power supply, leading to speculation that it might be intentional.
The Children of War Veterans Association (COZVWA) has offered insight from its intelligence unit, suggesting that Zimbabwe imports electricity from Mozambique, which can only export after 9 PM when its industrial demand decreases.
“According to the COZWVA Intel Unit (CIU), the situation is linked to Mozambique’s operational capacity, and the ongoing civil unrest there is likely exacerbating our power supply challenges,” the association stated.
