The Government of Zimbabwe has received a military equipment donation from the Government of the Republic of Cuba. Ambassador Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, Special Envoy to President Emmerson Mnangagwa on the Museum of African Liberation has officially received a donation of artefacts and paraphernalia from Cuba on 15 January 2025.
According to the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting’s X post, Newsreportzim.com has learned that Amb Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, President Mnangagwa’s Envoy on the Museum of African Liberation has received historical artefacts donated by Cuba
“H.E. President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Envoy on the Museum of African Liberation, Amb Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, received historical artefacts donated by Cuba. Items include military tanks used in the famous Battle of Cuito Conavale in Angola, military regalia, Documents,books & films,” the post reads.
The donation handed over to Ambassador Mumbengegwi in Havana, Cuba, include two military tanks used during the iconic Battle of Cuito Cuanavale in Angola, a military personnel carrier, four boxes of military regalia, historical documents, books, photographs, and films.
Ambassador Mumbengegwi announced that a fitting ceremony would be organised in Zimbabwe to formally receive the “priceless donation” upon its arrival.
The donated items will be transported to Harare, Zimbabwe, where they will be showcased at the Museum of African Liberation.
