Zimbabwe’s inflation rate is now at 1,347% according to Prof Steve Hanke of @JohnsHopkins University who has accurately measured Zimbabwe’s inflation for the past 5 years.
It also remains the highest inflation rate in the world.
Zimbabwe’s local currency has also collapsed after losing 95% of its buying power in the last twelve months.
Instead of planning to send people like Evidence Mugwadi to k!ll a journalist and commit murder in South Africa, the regime should be fixing the economy which has destroyed many livelihoods!
Zimbabweans in cities have no clean drinking water, but criminals like Wicknell Chivhayo who are surrogates of the ruling party ZANUPF are using looted public funds to buy cars for ZANUPF supporters.
Hospitals have no basic medication like paracetamol, the whole country has no single working radiotherapy cancer treatment machine and the biggest hospital only has one maternity theater resulting in 2,500 pregnant women dying whilst giving birth every year.
High inflation impacts poor people by eroding the purchasing power of their small incomes, making basic goods and services more expensive.
This leads to a decrease in the standard of living as the cost of essential items rises.
It creates economic anxiety and uncertainty making it challenging for individuals to plan their future.
The consequences of hyperinflation often disproportionately affect those with limited financial resources, Zimbabwe’s unemployment rate is 95%.
So inflation is pillaging the lives of the majority who are now in abject poverty.
I repeat, Zimbabwe’s new inflation rate is now one thousand three hundred forty-seven percent.
