The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) and the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) have signed a corporate integrity to combat corruption in the water resources management sector.
The Zimbabwe National Water Authority has engaged the Anti-Corruption Commission as the organization lost millions of dollars to corruption every year.
Speaking during the signing ceremony in Harare on Friday, ZINWA chief executive officer Engineer Taurayi Maurukira emphasised the importance of integrity and transparency in any organization.
“We take seriously the fight against corruption
“In making these huge investments in water infrastructure development, the Government aims to help positively transform the livelihoods of the citizenry and expects a great deal of integrity and transparency in the management of these investments.
“The intensification of the fight against corruption is crucial in public utilities, particularly in the water sector, where, if unchecked, it can engender devastating effects on society.
“When corruption infiltrates water management, it doesn’t just affect balance sheets, but it threatens the very essence of life itself,” said ZINWA CEO.
