The Zimbabwe Republic Police has announced the arrest of three suspects in connection with a daring armed r0bbery that occurred on July 17 2024, at Vilivili Bus Stop, Mwenezi along the Masvingo-Beitbridge Road.
The incident involved a Blue Circle bus bound for Beitbridge from Harare, which was carrying 33 passengers.
Five suspects, who were on board the bus from Harare to Beitbridge, armed with a pistol and knives, r0bbed the passengers of a total of US$8 621 and 62 070 rands .
In a terrifying display of viol3nce, the suspects fired two sh0ts in the air before making off with the stolen loot.
Acting on information received, police in Mwenezi arrested Ashton Siziva (26), Sauro Dadirai (24), and Phineas Shumba (25) on July 18 2024, at Maporisa Business Centre in Maranda, Mwenezi.
The arrest of the three suspects led to the recovery of a loaded pistol with two 9mm rounds, 7 000 rands US$500 two Blue Circle bus tickets, and a balaclava.
Unfortunately, two other suspects believed to be involved in the heist, Elphias Mugurugudze and Talent Ndou, are still at large.
The police are currently conducting investigations to track them down .
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has commended its officers for their swift response to the tip-off that led to the arrest of the three suspects.
