The former Independent Member of Parliament for Norton Constituency, Temba Mliswa, has congratulated His Excellency, President Mnangagwa, on assuming the role of Chairman of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) regional board.
President Mnangagwa assumed the Chairmanship on Saturday during the 44th SADC Summit, which was held at the new Parliament building in Mount Hampden, Harare.
Taking to his social media account, X (formerly known as Twitter), Temba Mliswa highlighted the following:
“Congratulations are in order President @edmnangagwa on your assumption of the SADC Chairmanship. We look forward to a big impact and big changes to be made. This is a position for Zimbabwe and we should leverage on this for the benefit of the country and everyone.”
“As Chairperson of the Southern African Parliamentarians Network Against Corruption (SAPNAC) (@ApnacSadc) my plea relates to the issue of corruption. We implore for robust actions against the scourge of corruption. It has robbed the region in many ways.”
“We will continue to advocate and hope that the President will take on this huge task. This role is a positive benefit which should be leveraged for the growth even of business in the county. The various Ministers should be up to the task for this.”
“It’s important that as Zimbabweans we realise that these are opportunities to take advantage of in various areas such as business to make inroads in new areas leveraging on this status. We can’t operate as an island and we can’t ignore opportunities out of political spite.”
“It’s like the classic case of the Land Reform exercise which many ignored and lambasted only to rue the missed opportunities later. Let’s not commit the same mistake twice. It may be rotational but all the same it’s an opportunity for the country.”
“We shouldn’t drag political baggage on issues such as legitimacy complaints. Personally I’m very excited about this. Let’s put all hands on deck and rally behind this as it is a Zimbabwe-thing not ZANU PF or personal to President Mnangagwa. Makorokoto Shumba Murambwi, VaChivi.”
