ZERA reviews fuel prices upwards

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has announced reduced diesel price while the petrol price remain steady for January, 2025 in a development expected to benefit individual consumers and businesses. Fuel users can expect these prices to hold steady until February 4, 2025.

According to ZERA’s X (formerly known as twitter), Newsreportzim.com has learned the reviewed fuel prices for the month of January to February 4, 2025.

“The prices are for January 2025 based on M-1 and they will be effective up to 4 February 2025,” ZERA stated in its notice.

Diesel users can breathe a sigh of relief, as ZERA has slightly reduced the price. Diesel now costs a maximum of US$1.53 per litre, a decrease of US$0.01 from December’s price of US$1.54. In Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG), the maximum price has increased marginally, from 39.34 ZWG to 39.61 ZWG per litre.

Fuel stations may sell at prices below these maximums based on their trading conditions. ZERA emphasized that all fuel stations must clearly display their prices as mandated by regulations.

For petrol users, there is no change. Blended petrol (E20) remains priced at a maximum of US$1.48 per litre, which is a decrease of US$0.03 from the November price of US$1.51 per litre. In ZiG, the maximum price has risen from 37.85 ZWG to 38.12 ZWG per litre.

“The public and operators are advised that the blending ratio is at E20,” ZERA clarified.

ZERA emphasized the importance of verifying fuel price updates through official channels, including the ZERA website, Facebook, and Twitter accounts.

“Stakeholders are advised that the petroleum price releases by ZERA can be verified on the official ZERA website, Facebook, or Twitter handle,” ZERA added.

Below is the full statement from ZERA, released on 5 January 2025:
