Nelson Chamisa, the leader of the Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC), has finally addressed his party’s supporters.
Initially, there were reports suggesting that Chamisa planned to challenge the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC)’s declaration of Emmerson Mnangagwa from Zanu PF as the winner of the August 23rd elections by approaching the Constitutional Court.
However, subsequent reports indicated that the CCC had decided to abandon this legal challenge after internal discussions. This left many wondering about the party’s next steps.
In a video message, Chamisa provided reassurance to his supporters regarding the CCC’s actions moving forward. Although he didn’t reveal specific details of their plans, he emphasized that they were actively engaged in various activities. Chamisa stated,
We are doing a lot. The definition of action cannot be limited to what people see. The definition of action cannot be limited to demonstration. We have been a lot and you will see in the passage of time. With a fluxion of time, you will see and realise that we have done a lot and a lot is being done. But this year is going to be an excellent year. It’s a wonderful year.
Chamisa also mentioned that they would soon unveil their annual programs and key agenda for the year, promising CCC supporters exciting developments. He urged his supporters to refrain from engaging in violence and emphasized their commitment to peace. Chamisa added,
Of course, we are going to be announcing the programmes of the year in due course and in our usual traditional, annual agenda of the year.
The 2023 agenda. We are going to come to you and say what the issues are, what we are going to be emphasizing. But I can tell you that this year is a wonderful year. This year is your year. This year is a great year. We are going to see amazing things.
Yes, there’s going to be a lot of challenges. We are clear about it. We have said we don’t invest in noise, we invest in peace. Where others are noise makers, we are peacemakers.
