A 29-year-old man named Felix Maphosa has been charged with the murd3r of his 47-year-old wife in Gaza E, Chipinge.
The dispute that led to her d3ath revolved around the discovery of birth control pills, which Maphosa’s wife had been taking without his knowledge.
Court reports from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) outline that the couple engaged in a heated argument after Maphosa found out about his wife’s use of the contraceptives.
Tensions escalated during this confrontation, resulting in a devastating act of v!olence.
In a fit of rage, Maphosa allegedly struck his wife three times on the head with an iron bar.
Tragically, the @ss@ult continued as prosecutors claim he used a hammer to drive a nail into her chest, delivering fatal !njur!es.
Following this horrific act, instead of seeking help, Maphosa left the scene to socialize at a local beer hall.
The following day, upon returning home, Maphosa discovered his wife unresponsive and deceased.

This grim finding led to his arrest by law enforcement, culminating in his recent appearance at the Chipinge Magistrates’ Court, where he faced murd3r charges.
During his initial court appearance, Maphosa was remanded in custody, with a scheduled detention until January 17, 2025, as further legal proceedings unfold.
The court has advised him to seek bail through an application to the High Court.
