A viral video featuring a tense exchange between a Zimbabwean patient and a South African nurse has sparked considerable debate across social media platforms.
The footage, reportedly recorded at a medical facility in Midrand, highlights a confrontation as the patient requests a transfer letter to see another doctor, prompting a heated response from the nurse.
As the video unfolds, the patient films her interaction with the nurse, initially asking her to check her blood pressure.
The nurse’s curt reply that she doesn’t check BP leads the patient to question her role, to which the nurse casually states that she spends her time sleeping, watching Netflix, and eating.
The patient then quips, “Ja, that’s why you are fat,” escalating the tension.
The situation intensifies when the patient, clearly frustrated, insists on receiving the transfer letter due to waiting for what she claims has been an excessive amount of time.
“I came here what time? I can’t wait anymore. Write me a transfer, let me go to the doctor,” she demands.

However, the nurse, seemingly on her break, firmly denies the request, asserting, “I won’t write you a transfer. Shout as much as you want, let everyone hear you. I won’t write you. Take a pic, here, sue me, I will sue the f out of you.”
The video’s release has divided social media users, with many debating who was in the wrong. Supporters of the nurse argue that the patient was rude and entitled.
Comments such as those from @destinyzee suggested that the patient should focus her energy on advocating for better services in her own country instead of demanding them in South Africa.
Similarly, @Rea_Walker weighed in, criticizing the so-called “audacity and entitlement” of “illegal foreigners.”
Conversely, those defending the patient highlighted broader issues with the healthcare system and emphasized the nurse’s obligation to treat all patients with respect, regardless of their nationality.
@Zet_Ndlovukati referenced past incidents of inadequate care, arguing that poor treatment from nurses is a systemic issue.
Others, like @Pavement_Gwerer, pointed out that medical professionals are sworn to provide respectful care to everyone, while @Lynette_SA emphasized the ethical responsibilities that nurses carry and the importance of treating all patients fairly.
