A 21-year-old student from the University of Zimbabwe, Ropa, is urgently raising US$20,064 for necessary cancer treatment in India.
While pursuing her degree in Biomedical Sciences at UZ, Ropa fell ill and was later diagnosed with cancer.
“She’s my classmate, and she was diagnosed with cancer,” shared Anotida Kachepa, another student, in a message to https://newsreportzim.com.
As of now, Ropa has raised £872 since launching her GoFundMe campaign, as seen in a screenshot shared.
Her fundraising team members, Stainslous Chidavaenzi and Mercy Mangwana Nyamhunga, have stressed the urgency of her situation, stating that her life depends on surgery to combat a malignant phyllodes tumor, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.
“Ropa’s doctors have recommended immediate treatment, which involves an operation in India where she can receive specialized care. Unfortunately, her family cannot afford the total cost of the surgery, travel, and medical expenses, which amounts to US$20,064.”

Her supporters are appealing for generosity to help Ropa obtain the treatment she needs so she can continue her education and pursue her dream of becoming a doctor.
The tumor is growing rapidly, and without surgery, both her health and future are at serious risk.
