Annie Kilner, the wife of Manchester City captain, Kyle Walker, has set tongues wagging after she reportedly put her divorce proceedings on hold after a period of turmoil in their marriage.
Following a family reunion over the Christmas holidays, Kilner appears to have reconsidered her initial plans to separate from Walker.
Despite previously pursuing half of Walker’s £27 million fortune amid divorce negotiations, sources indicate that her recent change of heart is not tied to the financial implications of Walker potentially transferring to Al-Nassr, the club of Cristiano Ronaldo, where he could earn an impressive £400,000 per week. Speculation about their future seems to point toward a possible reconciliation rather than a final split.

In light of this situation, Lizzie Cundy, who was formerly married to another footballer, shared her perspective in her column for The Sun. Cundy cautioned Kilner against remaining in a relationship for financial reasons, stressing that true motivation should stem from love rather than monetary stability. She noted the complexities and often challenging dynamics of high-profile footballer marriages, writing, “You should never stay for money; it should always be for love. Trying to make a family work because of the financial stability at stake won’t work.”
Cundy acknowledged that Kilner’s decision to halt divorce talks may reflect her desire to prioritize her family, stating, “She was very hurt by what he did and wanted to take control of the matter, to scare him a bit, to say: ‘Look, you can’t treat me like this,’ and she was right to do that.”
As Kilner navigates her personal life, Walker’s professional prospects remain uncertain. The Manchester City defender was notably absent from the squad during the FA Cup third-round match against Salford City. Speculation around his role deepens as City is reportedly looking to strengthen its defense, with potential signings from Lens and Palmeiras in the mix, which could further diminish Walker’s standing in Pep Guardiola’s plans.
