During the Greater Lagos 2024 concert, a Nigerian fan’s enthusiastic leap onto the stage led to a controversial incident involving Grammy Award-winning artist Burna Boy.
The moment quickly turned sour as Burna Boy reacted by physically @tt@cking the fan, a decision that has since elicited widespread criticism online.
A video capturing the event has gone viral, provoking strong responses from fans and observers alike.
Amid the backlash, Burna Boy took to Instagram to provide context for his actions, stating that he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
He cautioned his fans against jumping on stage while he’s performing, emphasizing the impact it has on him.

“Everybody knows my rule about getting on stage and startling me when I’m performing. I got PTSD. I love you all. Happy new year,” he wrote. He added that although he had a wonderful time in Lagos, being startled during his performance is not acceptable.
While many fans expressed disappointment at Burna Boy’s reaction, some came to his defense. They suggested that his actions could be understood in light of his condition, stressing that he couldn’t know the fan’s intentions when he jumped on stage.
“Security should’ve handled it better. Hope the fan is okay, and Burna Boy can make it up to them. That’s so sad,” remarked one social media user, pointing out that the fan was simply showing enthusiasm and affection.
In response to critics who claimed the incident ruined his performance, Burna Boy clarified, “It was a free show. I was supposed to do 10 minutes and ended up doing almost an hour.”
