A man from Zimbabwe, currently residing in South Africa, has sparked outrage after scamming an unsuspecting TikToker by posing as a desperate university student.
Claiming to be an economics student at the University of Zimbabwe, he weaved a sob story about needing R3,000 for exam fees, while also stating he was battling depression and contemplating su!c!de.
However, his ruse didn’t last long.
Social media users quickly recognized him from Gweru and alerted others to his long history of fraudulent activities.
Many expressed their disbelief that he had expanded his schemes beyond Zimbabwe, citing instances of him swindling money from friends and acquaintances in his home country for years.

In a related incident, just a few days back, another young man from South Africa fell victim to a similar scam.
This individual received a message on social media from someone impersonating an old school friend, claiming to be in dire need of funds for medical bills after an accident.
Trusting the familiar name, he transferred a significant amount of money, only to discover later that it was a scam.
This incident sparked further discussions online about the increasing prevalence of scams targeting vulnerable individuals through social media platforms.
As word spread about these incidents, social media users urged greater caution when interacting with strangers online and shared tips on recognizing potential scams.
They expressed concern that more people could fall victim if preventive measures are not taken.
