A prominent Zimbabwean figure, Walter Magaya, has come under investigation for potential fraudulent activities surrounding a degree certificate.
The individual, who has been involved in several high-profile endeavors, submitted an alleged UNISA diploma to support his eligibility for a leadership position with a national sports association.
According to documents obtained by a local media outlet, Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has reached out to the sports association and a separate judicial entity to gather information about the individual’s eligibility for the position.
This comes after Magaya challenged a decision to bar him from the elections due to a lack of certain academic qualifications.

At the center of the investigation is a degree supposedly obtained from a reputable international university.
However, the university has denied issuing the degree to the individual in question.
Magaya had submitted the degree certificate, certified as authentic by local authorities, to support his claim of having higher academic qualifications than required for the position.
A statement from the international university in question asserts that the individual does not have a record of attendance or graduation, making any certificates attributed to him fraudulent.
The individual is known for his charismatic public persona and leadership roles across various sectors.
He also has a significant presence in the country’s sports industry, owning a professional football club that competes at the national level.
