Gospel musician Mai Banda has finally hit back at critics after getting dragged on social media for her dress code.
Mai Banda who has been facing heavy criticism on social media for her dress code which many deemed was inappropriate for a gospel singer has now chosen to directly address these concerns.
Taking to Facebook, Mai Banda addressed her new followers, advising them against using Bible verses to condone her dress code.
She asserted her autonomy in choosing her attire, firmly stating that nobody dictates her dress code. Mai Banda further stated that she doesn’t care about what people think about her dress code.
“New followers musazvinetsa ne kukanda tuma bible verses. Mai Banda Music is the Tina Turner of Africa. Either wotojaira or Famba Famba shamwari. Handiudzirwe zvekupfeka. I am a woman almost in her 50s and don’t give a sh*t what someone thinks,” she wrote.
In a separate post, Mai Banda mentioned that critics would have ridiculed her if she were overweight because of her preference for wearing shorts and miniskirts.
She told critics to leave her clothes alone.
Chokwadi I always imagine if I was obese/overweight apa ndichida kupfeka ma shorts nema mini. Sadza eaters would have made a mockery of me. Hamuna kwenyu imi. Siyanai nehembe dzangu aaahhh Nhai Kkkkk.
Mai Banda’s posts have sparked mixed reactions on social media. While some rallied behind her arguing that social media should not dictate how she should dress, another section insisted that she should dress appropriately.
