In a horrifying incident that unfolded under the cover of darkness, a Bulawayo couple’s evening took a nightmarish turn when they were attacked, robbed, and subjected to a disturbing act by two unidentified assailants.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night, around 11:30 pm, as Linos Sibanda (32) and his lover were making their way home from a city night spot in Bulawayo.
According to a source familiar with the incident who spoke to B-Metro, Sibanda and his partner had left the establishment, located along Fife Street between 2nd and 3rd avenues, and were heading towards 6th Avenue in search of transportation.
It was during this journey that they encountered two armed men, wielding a knife and a hammer.
“The two men were armed with a knife and hammer. They confronted them (Sibanda and his lover) and told them to stop and surrender all the money and items in their possession. While Sibanda was trying to reason with them, they slapped him once on the face, causing him to bleed,” revealed the source.
However, the unimaginable was yet to unfold. The assailants ordered Sibanda’s girlfriend to lie on the ground and then commanded him to perform a disturbinng act on her while they callously watched.
Throughout the horrifying ordeal, the perpetrators continued to physically assault Sibanda, slapping him on the back and demanding money.
Robbery and Escape
Eventually, Sibanda succumbed to the attackers’ demands, surrendering R800, his black leather jacket, and a belt before the culprits fled the scene.
Distraught and traumatized, the couple made their way to the Bulawayo Central Police Station to report the heinous crime.
Law enforcement authorities swiftly responded to the report and have since initiated a manhunt for the two suspects.
The police are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety and security of the community.
